Harrods is about to make history in an attempt to break the world record for the most guitarists simultaneously playing the same song. This time the song will be Deep Purple’s rock classic Smoke On the Water, so grab your guitar and get ready to rock at the Harrods Rocks world record attempt.


Be a rock star
Ever dream about being a world famous guitarist? Head to Harrods for the easy way to get your chance at worldwide attention. Muster up all your stage presence and bring along your trusty guitar, because there’s a chance that you’ll be making rock history. If an entry in the Guinness Book of World Records isn’t enough to whet your appetite, you’ll also receive a commemorative plectrum and t-shirt, plus the chance to win an electric guitar and other prizes.


Make history
Harrods is trying to get together 2,000 guitarists for the Harrods Rocks world record attempt and beat the current record of 1,322 guitarists that played together in Vancouver, Canada in 1994. If you’d like to be part of an enormous event that’s going to rock London, make sure you head to Harrods on 18th February.


Guitarists wanted
Even if the only experience you have is playing guitar in front of the mirror, you’ll still be able to take part in the performance. You do need to be a proficient musician, though, so if you’re not quite sure where to put your fingers for an E chord you should probably just watch. Bring along your own guitar – acoustic or electric – and be prepared to rock out on Smoke On the Water’s opening riff. And if you’re worried about the effect that 2,000 guitars could have on your ears, Harrods will be offering complimentary ear plugs to all participants.
